Start Strong, Finish Well by Joyce Meyer – posted March 09, 2017

[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy.
—Colossians 1:11

Everything we undertake in life has a beginning and an end. Typically, we are excited at the beginning of an opportunity, a relationship, or a venture; we’re also happy when we can celebrate our achievement and have the satisfaction of a fulfilled desire. But between the beginning and the end, every situation has a “middle”—and the middle is where we often face our greatest challenges.

Between our beginnings and our endings, we must develop the determination necessary to overcome the difficult circumstances we encounter in the middle. We can be people who finish what we begin. And we can be thankful that we don’t have to do it alone—God will help us if we let Him.

You may be in the middle of something right now. Whatever you find yourself in the middle of, ask God for His strength and wisdom, discipline yourself a little while longer, and determine to see it all the way through to the finish.

Prayer of Thanks: I thank You, Father, that I am not alone in the middle of this situation. You are right here with me, and You are giving me the strength I need. With Your help, I am determined not to quit. I’m going to see this through and give You the glory with a successful finish!

GOODNEWS DEVOTIONAL: LET GO YOUR SEED || WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 2017

GOODNEWS DEVOTIONAL

LET GO YOUR SEED
TEXT: Mark 10:29
And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel (KJV).
Many times most Christians get frustrated on why their harvest is so small after sowing so much seeds. Some even wonder why the result or blessing they get from God does not commensurate with their dedication, commitment and service to God. Many people truly give their money, time, and talents but the problem is that they did not release it to God. What they gave left their hands but it did not leave their hearts. Their hearts are still attached to it. Until you let go your seed from your heart, heaven won’t let go your harvest. This is one of such complaints, Peter was trying to pass across to Jesus in Mark 10:28 “Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee (KJV). Just like many Christians are complaining today, “They asked us to pray, we prayed, they asked us to sow seed, we sowed, they asked us to dance, we danced, they asked us to serve in church, we did, now what do we have to show for it? In fact those who do not do any of these seem to have better result”. After Peter said that, Jesus now replied him, in our test today “And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life (KJV). In other words, Jesus said, no one who truly released his seed for the sake of the kingdom that won’t have a bountiful harvest. The problem is that, many truly give, but their heart are still attached to it. Some give because they were asked to give, not because they do it for the sake of the gospel and Jesus.
Some give so that Pastor may see and acknowledge them, some give so that they could be identified with the church. Jesus said that there is no one who willingly give, that does not have harvest. So whatever you do, check your motive. Ensure you serve God with joy without being forced, because it is a cheerful giver that God loves (2 Corinthians 9:7). When you give, release it to God and give thanks.
CONFESSION
Father, I let go my life, sacrifice, offerings as a seed into your hands today and I receive hundred folds returns in the name of Jesus.

“Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation: But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand” (Romans 15:20, 21).
It is prophesied that God’s Word will reach to all the ends of the earth. Eventually, we will have a chance to decide if we want to accept Christ or not.

Meet the Living Word Kenneth Copeland

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

The living Word of Almighty God is the only power strong enough to discipline your flesh. It’s the only power that can cause you to think, look, talk and act like a born-again man.

When I became a Christian, I was dominated by a horrible smoking habit. I tried to quit every way I could think of but nothing worked. After months of struggling and failing, I decided to attend some meetings in Hilton Sutton’s church in Houston, Texas. Before I went into those meetings, I tucked my cigarettes above the sun visor in my car and left them there.

Up to that time, I hadn’t learned much of anything about the Word and had never been exposed to the power of God. So when I began to hear those ministers there preaching under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it got my attention. I was caught up in the living Word. My desires changed. All I wanted was more of God. For the first time in my life, the Scriptures came alive.

When those meetings ended and I started driving back home, I found those old, stale cigarettes tucked up in my sun visor and realized I hadn’t even missed them.

What happened? The Word separated me from the desire to smoke. The Word empowered me to discipline this flesh of mine. When I saw Jesus in the Word and under the anointing of Almighty God, I was totally set free, not only of the habit but of the desire!

Get caught up in the living Word today and discover the power that can set you forever free.

Positive Minds by Joyce Meyer – posted March 08, 2017

Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed.…
—Matthew 8:13

Sometimes when I stand behind the pulpit, and before I speak, I pause and my gaze sweeps across the audience. I look at the faces of the people. I love to see the bright smiles and expressions of anticipation, but there are always a few who look downtrodden and discouraged. I don’t know anything about them and I don’t want to judge them, but their faces look sad. They look as if they have lost hope and expect nothing positive to happen—and too often, they get exactly what they expect.

I understand those discouraged people; I was once one of them.

Here’s a simple fact I’ve learned: Positive minds produce positive lives, but negative minds produce negative lives. The New Testament tells the story of a Roman soldier whose servant was sick, and the soldier wanted Jesus to heal him. That wasn’t uncommon—many wanted Jesus to heal them or their loved ones in those days. But this soldier, instead of asking Jesus to come to his servant, expressed his belief that if Jesus would just speak the word, his servant would be healed (see Matthew 8:8). Jesus marveled at his faith and sent out His word to heal the servant. The soldier’s positive mindset—his faith—brought positive results. He expected healing, and that’s exactly what happened.

Too often, we cry to Jesus to heal us, to take care of our finances, or to deliver us from problems, but we don’t fully expect the good things to happen. We allow our minds to focus on the negative aspects. Doubt and unbelief war against our minds and steal our faith if we allow it.

As I wrote in my book Battlefield of the Mind, many years ago I was extremely negative. I used to say that if I had two positive thoughts in a row, my mind would get in a cramp. That’s an exaggeration, of course, but that’s how I saw myself. I lived with the same philosophy that other people have: If we don’t expect anything good to happen, we won’t be disappointed when it doesn’t.

I could have excused my negative attitude by telling everyone about my disappointments in life and I had many. It wasn’t just my lack of expectation. It was more than that. Because I thought negatively, I spoke negatively. When people told me of their spiritual victories, I’d think, That won’t last. When people spoke of their faith, I’d smile, but inwardly I would think that they were gullible. I could always figure out ways that plans would go wrong or people would disappoint me.

Was I happy? Of course not. Negative thinkers are never happy. It’s too long of a story to explain how I came to face that reality, but once I realized what a negative person I was, I cried out to the Lord to help me.

I learned that if I kept studying the Word of God, I could push away negative thoughts. God’s Word is positive and uplifting. My responsibility was to become the kind of believer who honors God with her thoughts, as well as with her actions and her deeds.

I understood the remorse David must have felt when he wrote Psalm 51: Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love… is the way he starts. I especially meditated on verse 9: Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my guilt and iniquities. I hadn’t sinned the same way David did, of course, but my negative thinking and bad attitude was sin. It wasn’t just weakness or a bad habit. When I focused on negative thinking, I was rebelling against God.

The Lord had mercy on me. As I continued in His Word and in prayer, He freed me from Satan’s stronghold.

Freedom is available for all of us.

Gracious God, thank You for every deliverance in my life. Thank You for setting me free from negative and wrong thinking. Thank You for defeating Satan in this area of my life. Amen.
